First pool experience

pool_pics.jpg

Molly loved the pool - can you tell by her intense fit of rage? I don't understand - she loves baths! Maybe because it was outside? I have no clue. She was a little bit happier basking in the sun while sporting her lovely two piece. Her cousin, Rieyln enjoyed watching Molly's fit of rage.

Posterchild

zweiback.JPG

Molly is a posterchild for two products - Cheerios and Zweiback Toast. She loves them both. While Cheerios fine tunes her motor skills, Zweiback Toast just makes a plain old mess. The toast keeps her busy for at least 30 minutes or more because she can't bite it, it just dissolves slowly. But with her newly sprouted tooth (not all the way in yet), I'm sure the toast will become easier to master.

Happy Mother's Day!

mothers_day.jpgHappy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mother's out there. I never fully appreciated Mother's Day until I had a child of my own. It's a great feeling!

It's my first mother's day. We had "Muffins with Mom" at church this morning and I received a carnation for being a mom. On the way home from church, Peter gave me his gift (Legally Blonde II DVD) and a card from Molly. It was sweet, even though all I wanted for Mother's Day was for my house to be clean. (Maybe next year...) After church, I came home and took a nap for an hour and a half. Then, Peter's parents came down for lunch and brought Rotisserie chicken - yummm! After a relaxing afternoon, I was craving El Chico. So Peter took me out to El Chico. It was good. Now, Molly is asleep in bed. I really liked the card Peter picked out that was from Mollly. I can't wait for the day that she brings home her own hand-made card signed in crayons.

My priceless princess.

IMG_0036_2.jpgI took the day off to spend some time with my sister. I was also able to spend the entire day with Molly. What a joy that was and it still doesn't seem like enough. We had a great day, even though I couldn't put Molly to sleep for her nap and Chrissey had to do it (since she babysits her) everyday. Wow, that made me realize how much I am gone during the day to work full-time. Someday soon...I'll be able to stay at home and be a full-time mom.

Tonight, I went to a girl's night out with the girls at church - a BYOS party. (Bring your own spa.) I had a great time relaxing and Peter was able to spend a few hours with Molly. She had a great time with daddy! They played peek-a-boo, crawled around on the floor, and built mounds of toys up so Molly could smash them down. I was somewhat jealous because most of the time I spend with Molly is not playtime - it's mommy time. Feed her, change her diaper, put her to sleep, wake up in the middle of the night and put her back to sleep... So I enjoy watching Molly and Peter play. She will be a daddy's little girl for sure.

My Petite Little Molly

IMG_7811.jpgMolly is 8.5 months old and only weighs 14 lbs. 4 oz. She falls between the 25th percentile for her height and 5th percentile for weight. But the doctor is not concerned at this point. He just says she's petite. She goes in for her 9 month checkup in a few weeks. Maybe she'll have a growth spurt between now and then. But I really enjoy her being so small. She's pretty light to carry around - even though it wears on my back at times - and she's just so darn cute! I'm anxiously waiting to see if she'll have super curly hair like her cousin Rielyn and her mom of course! What a cutie!

Mommy-Radar

Molly is her clingy, separation anxiety stage - her "I want mommy to hold me all the time and no one else - and don't you dare leave the room because I will wail and cry buckets of unending tears" stage. I'm not complaining (much) because don't get me wrong, I love Molly more than anything on the face of the planet (except Peter of course). It's just hard for me to get anything done with two hands. So we've adjusted to doing things with one hand while Molly is on the hip. (But I didn't mention my back hurting from carrying her so much - all of 14 lbs. that she is - man do I need to work out or what?)

People tell me that most every child will go through this stage. I just wonder if it's worse because I work everyday and leave her with the babysitter (which is my wonderful sister). But she doesn't seem to mind being away from me during the day - she plays with cousin Rielyn and Chrissey is her second mom anyway. But when she sees me walk through the door, her mommy radar goes off and you'd better hand me the buckets so I can catch her crying tears.

I'm very touched and moved by the fact that she is so attached to me. That makes me feel very wanted and special. It's also a special bond that we share. Sometimes, though, I just need a break. A break like every mom needs. Time to relax and do a few housework.

So I'm entertaining the idea of a housekeeper, a massage-therapist and a chiropractor (with a million dollar salary of course)!

I love molly! I wouldn't trade her for the world!

Good golly, miss Molly! She's crawling!

IMG_7804.jpgYes folks, it's true, at a little over 8 months Molly is crawling now! She took her first nose dive on April 30th and has been going ever since. The cats and Cherrios serve as her primary motivation. She seldom crawls toward us but when she does, it is with much whining and crying. She just wants us to pick her up and carry her. But I'm sure once she masters the art of all-fours, she'll be chasing us down. Click here to see the video.
