We took Molly in for her 1 year appointment hoping the Dr. would put her on whole milk and we would get to save money by not having to buy formula. But I was wrong. She weighed in at 16 lbs. 2 oz.(not on the charts - barely a 1%) and 28 inches long (20th percentile). We've got a petite little girl on our hands. So not only can we not turn her around in her carseat yet, we have to put her on Pediasure - only the most expensive nutrition drink out there. The cheapest I've found is $9.44 for a six pack. And she is supposed to have 2 cans a day. So in doing the math - that's $94.40 plus tax a month. And we have to do this for 3 months. Well, I got semi-smart and bid on 18 $2.00 off coupons. So that brings us down to $74.40 plus tax a month. YIKES!! I've been looking for a generic brand but can't seem to find one - please tell me if you know of one. Anyway, we also have to put butter in her foods to fatten her up. I'm starting to give her hot dogs and she loves cheese so hopefully this plan will work. But another caveat is that she starts Sonshine school next week and her eating won't be as closely monitored so I'm a little concerned. And she is still on a bottle. But we'll work on the sippie cup thing pretty soon. So that's that story of our little baby. She's still as happy as can be and plays well.

We had a great time at Molly's first birthday party(s). On her actual birthday, we went to Chuck E. Cheese's with just family to celebrate. She ate yummy pizza and rode several kiddy rides. We had a blast. Then, on Saturday, we had a party with a few near one year olds from church (and all family was there too). She wasn't really interested in opening presents so I ended up opening them for her (I felt strange...). However, she really enjoyed her chocolate cake. Her Oma made a special cake with a German birthday ring (1 ring for 1 year - then it gets more rings as they get older) and she also made cupcakes for the kids with gummi bears! It was a messy, grand ole' time.

One year ago today marks a great day in history - the birth of Molly. Just to recap...I started having contractions on Monday the 18th last year at Fazolis. But I had no idea what they were so I went to the hospital. They sent me home of course and soon my contractions were getting regular - 12 minutes apart. I went back to work and then went to Ted's later that night for a spicy mexican dinner. I went on to work Tuesday the 19th and my contractions were about 9-10 minutes a part. I had to pause during our office meeting every 10 minutes to concentrate on a contraction. To help progess the labor, after work Peter and I walked around Target for an hour and a half. My contractions were getting closer - about 7 minutes. We got home, I tried to go to sleep, tried to take a bath, I tried everything. I called the hospital at 6 minutes apart and begged to come in. They told me to wait until I was 5 minutes apart since my water had not broken. Finally at 5 and a half minutes apart, we went in at 2 am. I was admitted - dialated to a 3 - almost a 4. They gave me an epidural, started me on pitosin to progess the labor and at 10:11 am on Wednesday the 20th, I gave birth to Molly with only about 20 minutes of pushing and a small episiotomy. And I've successfully sustained a life for one year! To read the full story, click here.
She's one year old today. We had a great day! Well not the part where I was working and away from her but when I got home, we took her to Chuck E. Cheese's with her grandma and cousin Rielyn and daddy. What fun!! We rode rides, ate pizza and Peter even gave her a sip of coke - bad daddy!
Although Molly has not yet started walking (she can, she just would rather crawl), she can babble constantly, say "uh oh", "ball", "mama", "dada", "boo", "cat", and "papa". She can spit and buzz her lips, roll her tongue, throw huge stomping and kicking her feet fits, wave bye bye and best of all - blow big kisses. She hasn't been to the Dr. yet for her 1 yr. checkup - her appointment is next week but I think she weighs about 17 or 18 lbs. now. I'll let you know. So we still have a couple months before she can sit forward facing in her car seat.
Well the big birthday bash is tomorrow. I'll post those pics up tomorrow.
P.S. - Molly has another cousin - Ashlyn Nicole born exactly 1 year and 1 day later than her. They'll be really close as they grow up I imagine.

Look... daddy let Molly learn to drive in the Target parking lot!

We went to the Balloon Fest tonight. Molly really enjoyed seeing the balloons light up. It was technically called a Moon Glow. We bought her a glow necklace and gave her a balloon and she was set! We're starting to do more family events - it's so much fun!
I finally uploaded the photos from our trip to CO. Molly was not the happiest of campers. She loved crawling around in the tent and outside in the rocks but when it came down to bedtime, she woke up at least 4 times each night. The funniest part was when the train came by in the middle of the night, she shot straight up and tried to jump out of her portable crib. It didn't help that she was teething too.
